Department of Spanish Language and Literature

The specialized subject of the Spanish language was established in 2006. At present, the section has two associate professors, three assistants, two foreign teachers and an expert from foreign country. It takes on the teaching of Spanish for the students on the undergraduate degree programs.

This specialized subject aims to cultivate talents that meet the demands of the society. It gives the students basic language skills of Spanish as well as the knowledge of the literature, history, culture, politics and economy of Spain. Major courses offered include Spanish intensive reading, Spanish extensive reading, Spanish grammar, Economic and Trade Spanish, Audio-visual Spanish, Oral Spanish, Spanish Interpreting, Spanish Translation, Introduction to Spanish and Latin-American Literature, and Applied Writing in Spanish.

The specialized subject of the Spanish language has established cooperation with many universities in Spain. In the academic year of 2006-2007, the students exchange program of Shandong University and La Rioja University of Spain came into operation. Also in 2006, the first group of exchanged students from Valencia University of Spain began their study of Chinese language and literature in Shandong University.

In 2007, the School of Foreign Languages and Literature will enroll undergraduates majoring in Spanish. All teachers in the teaching and research section, with the goal to cultivate the best students of the Spanish language in China, will work with originality and greater enthusiasm in teaching and research for the progress of the School and the University.
